PRINTS FOR SALE - Palladio
We are pleased to offer a group of prints showing buildings by Andrea Palladio, the great Italian architect of the C16.
These are very attractive and detailed prints we believe from an edition of Bertotti Scamozzi’s Il Forestiere Istruito . . .di Architettura . . . Citta’ di Vicenza, a guidebook principally describing the works of Palladio, first published in Vicenza in 1761. The plates may be from a later edition, but they show folding as per the first edition.
The plates were etched by the Italian engraver Cristoforo Dall’Acqua, active in the second half of the C18, and a contemporary of Piranesi.
A small inset photograph shows the building. These prints are all attractively mounted with a dark green slip, but may not be in conservation board mount.
