INFORMATION FOR BUYERS

Our prints for sale pages show a selection of stock, updated regularly. On each page, thumbnails of around ten prints are shown, with a stock reference number and brief description.

FULL SIZE VIEW   If you click on either the picture or the caption, a larger view will appear, with extra information on the print such as the size, subject matter, medium, details of condition and price etc.

IMAGE QUALITY   Most of our images are taken with a digital camera, some in frames, and all images are greatly reduced to a small size to give reasonable download times. The real item is always much better, and  we are always pleased to email a larger image.

more information?  If you have a particular concern on the image quality of an individual print, or you want any more information at all, please contact us. We will be pleased to email a full quality image, plus provide any further condition report information.

BUYING   If you find a print you would like to buy, please note the Stock Number, brief title and price and go to the Purchase of Prints section, where you can RESERVE any print for a week by emailing us OR you can pay directly by PayPal.

CHANGING STOCK   If you don’t find anything today, do please visit regularly, as our stock changes.

PRINT SEARCH  We are also happy to look out for individual prints, or particular places or persons, but there are so many prints, that it might be a while before we find a particular print!!   Please email us on ROSS@georgianprints.co.uk and as soon as we find a print which we think might be of interest to you, we will email you back with an image. Of course, you are under no obligation at all to purchase the print.

MONEY BACK GUARANTEE    As we are selling over the Net, you will obviously want to be sure of the exact terms on which prints are bought by you. First of all, we offer an unconditional money back guarantee. As long as we are informed within 7 days and the print is returned within 14 days in the same condition as dispatched, we will refund your money in full, less postage costs.

We also guarantee the genuineness of all items sold. All our prints are genuine, original prints of the period stated. If within three months you notify us that a print is not as described, on the return of the print we will refund your money in full.

If you want to return a print, please send it by airmail or first class recorded delivery post, preferably in the original packaging, and let us know it is on its way by email. We would appreciate it if you would pay the postage, and insure it.

DESCRIPTIONS    All descriptions are given in good faith, and we try to ensure that they are factually accurate. However, any information beyond that actually printed on the title cannot be guaranteed.

CONDITION    As our prints are on average 200 years old, they will not be as pristine as any brand new item bought in a shop today. We categorise the quality of the impression, using the generally accepted system,

      Very fine
      Fine
      Very good
      Good
      Poor

As regards the condition of the medium, ie the paper, prints are sold in ‘good’ condition, but again that does mean good for their age !! We define this as the area within the platemark or printed area as a minimum as being clean without foxing or other marks and without tears or repairs. For the paper, there may be minor tears or abrasion to the area outside the platemark, and some slight discolouration as would be expected with age. If there are any variations from this, these will be noted in the full description, for example prints trimmed inside the platemark, mounted on board, tears repaired etc. Of course, that will be reflected in the price.

COLOUR  The subject of colour on prints is a vexed one (see also Types of Prints section). Most colour prints we sell will have original or near contemporary colour, but there will always be some measure of opinion on this point. We prefer to avoid harsh modern colouring, but on occasion on a particularly interesting subject will offer a print with modern colour. This will be noted in the description.

CONSERVATION   If any conservation work other than a simple wash has been applied to a print, this will be noted in the description.

PAYMENT  Our preferred method of payment is by PayPal, UK Cheque or International Banker’s Draft.

PayPal is the international payment system carried out over a secure internet connection. They will accept virtually all cards. The advantage to you is that your credit card information is totally unknown to us. Also, you do not now need to open a PayPal account.

We are also pleased to accept cash, cheques in UK£££, and Bankers Orders in UK£££, US$$$ or Euros. Sorry, we cannot accept non-UK£££ cheques, as processing these is just too costly. You can also make a payment direct by internet banking, and in this case we will supply account details by telephone or fax.

DISPATCH  Orders will be dispatched as quickly as possible on receipt of payment.  Payment must be received before dispatch, but see our Unconditional Guarantee above. We will email you to advise of dispatch.

POSTAGE   On UK sales, there is NO SEPARATE POSTAGE CHARGE on any print. We have absorbed this cost into the cost of the prints. In the UK, prints will normally be sent First Class Post Recorded Delivery. For all non UK destinations, we will add a small extra amount at cost, this to be advised when you reserve a print. Overseas prints will normally be sent Airmail Printed Paper rate. More expensive items may be sent by Courier service.

PACKAGING  Prints are normally dispatched unmounted and flat, wrapped in conservation grade tissue paper. Larger prints would be sent in a cardboard tube. A rolled print should be removed from the tube as soon as possible and left on a flat surface for a few hours to flatten out. Sorry, it is not practical to send large size mounts (see Looking After Your Prints).

INSURANCE IN TRANSIT    All items as sent are insured while in transit. If a print does not arrive within three or four days in the UK or fourteen days for elsewhere, please let us know. In the event of an item being lost or damaged in transit, we will of course refund your payment. You must also inform your local Post Office or the Courier service. For damage in transit claims, all original packaging must be retained.

CUSTOMS   All exported packages must have a Customs decoration form on them, which will state ‘Print’ and the value of the item. You may be liable to local taxes, but as we are sure you will appreciate, the amount of these and the levying of them is outwith our control.

INVOICES   A full typed printed invoice with address and other details will be sent with all prints. A copy of this can be emailed in advance.

TAXES + VAT   As we are not VAT registered, there is NO VAT to pay on UK or EU sales. Please note that on exported items outside the EU zone, there might be sales taxes to pay - such payment of local taxes on purchases rests with the buyer, and we can accept no responsibility in this area.

DISCOUNTS   On the purchase of two or more prints valued at over £200, we will be pleased to offer a 10% discount, excepting prints already offered as pairs or sets. Sorry, on single print sales we just cannot offer any discount.

trade buyers   Please contact us by phone to discuss the purchase of prints.

institutional buyers   We are always delighted to supply prints to Libraries, Art Galleries etc. As we recognise that it can take a while for payment to be made, please email us with details, we will reserve the print and supply a pro-forma invoice for payment.

YOUR PRIVACY   You can be absolutely assured that any information supplied by you to us will be respected and kept absolutely confidential. It will certainly not be sold to spammers. In so far as we can stop it, this site will NOT download cookies or spyware onto your computer.

COMPLAINTS    Naturally, we hope that you will be very pleased with the print which you have received, hopefully in good condition. However, if there is any matter at all that you are not satisfied with, please get in touch with us by phone or email straightaway, so that we can sort it out.
