NOTES:     ‘La Belle Alliance’, a scene taken of the battlefield immediately after the Battle of Waterloo. A well known Ackermann print. La Belle Alliance was the inn on the battlefield which featured prominently in the battle. Some soldiers burying the dead can be seen. Numbered top right Plate 20, Vol XIV.


CONDITION:     Good, with strong colour. The print has a very clear watermark, for J WHATMAN 1814, which we have reproduced as a separate image. Two original folds , one has opened to a slight tear, but the image area is not affected. Small tear on the RH margin from the original binding, but again not affecting the image area.
