NOTES: One of the famous studies of Lady Hamilton, at the time Emma Hart, by Romney. Introduced by the Hon. Charles Greville, Emma apparently sat for Romney an astonishing 300 times between 1782 and 1786. The rest, as we say, is history. The print is by George Keating (1762 - 1842), the Irish stipple and mezzotint engraver, best known for his portrait engravings.
CONDITION: A fine impression, cut away on platemark, the paper slightly discoloured, a small tear and crease on the right side, but the image area unaffected.
