NOTES:     ‘Umberslade the Seat of And. Archer Esq in the County of Warwick’, a fascinating print of this Warwickshire country house in the village of Tanworth in Arden, still standing and now converted into apartments.
The print shows the main elevation of the House, a plan and also a view with two substantial wings, but we do not know if these were ever built. The plan is shown as if in a cartouche. It is a most unusual style of print for the English market.
This print had a curiously complicated publishing history, and as it has been trimmed to the margins, extra inscription detail may have been lost. However, according to Harris in ‘British Architectural Books’, in was first published in ‘Le Noveau Theatre’, and then subsequently in some editions of ‘Vitruvius Brittanicus’.

CONDITION:     Good, the print has been trimmed to the margins and had one or two small tears and losses, but we have had this interesting print professionally conserved. It has been inlayed into a sheet of stable acid free paper, so it will frame ideally.
